Argentine was incorporated as a city in 1882 and annexed by Kansas City, Kansas in 1910. It was known for having one of the nation's largest smelting operations which specialized in the production of silver. As a result it was called "Silver City". We acknowledge the anniversary of Silver city Day to celebrate the achievements of the Argentine Community.
