Food on the Missouri Frontier at Fort Osage National Historic Landmark
Enjoy the sights and smells of history in the making! See live demonstrations of hearth cooking, as well as food preservation and preparation techniques from the early 1800s. Walk through our heirloom garden on one of our garden tours to see how fruits and vegetables have changed over time. Learn how the soldiers and civilians of Fort Osage preserved food for the long winter and take home recipe cards for some of our favorite historic foods. This is a day of fun for the whole family with music, games, period crafts and more!
