The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum is one of 13 presidential libraries operated by the National Archives and Records Administration. It boasts a museum with exhibits about President Truman's childhood: life in Independence, MO; and his presidential years. Visitors are greeted with a mural by Thomas Hart Benton named "Independence and the Opening of the West." The museum also features a reproduction of the Oval Office as it was during the Truman administration, the office which Truman used in his retirement years.
