Powerhouse Theatre is located inside the Roger T. Sermon Community Center, owned and operated by the City of Independence Parks/Recreation/Tourism Department. Three theatre groups (Children's Performing Theatre, City Theatre of Independence, and Encore Theatre) collectively offer 10 performances throughout the year. The Powerhouse Theatre Foundation oversees the upkeep, renovation and improvements to the Powerhouse Theatre, and is responsible for fundraising.
