Spend a day at Powell Gardens experiencing salsa making, salsa music, salsa dancing, and all things, peppers, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro on September 21, 2019. Enjoy live music performed by Pablo Sanhueza & KC Latin Jazz Orchestra who will feature live salsa dancing and free salsa dancing tips. All the festivities take place in the Heartland Harvest Garden under the eaves of the Missouri Barn, and in the education building—rain or shine. Food, beer, and a Mean Mule Distilling agave cocktail, and product vendors selling salsa-related items will be on-site.

Check in with a gardener to learn more about growing salsa ingredients and other spicy items at home. Be sure to stroll through the outdoor garden display Through the Looking Glass on view in the gardens surrounding the Visitor Center. All festivities are free with garden admission (festival admission applies).

1:00-1:30 p.m. cooktop demonstration: Chef/owner Carlos Mortera of Poi-Õ and The Bite

1:30—4:00 p.m. Salsa Music Performance (2:30-3:00 short break)

2:30-3:00 p.m. cooktop demonstration by Laura Favela, executive chef of Silo Modern Farmhouse

3:00-4:00 p.m. class in education building by Mean Mule American Agave Spirit, an organic, sustainable spirit handcrafted from 100-percent weber blue agave in Kansas City but honoring its Mexican roots.
